Why you are not seeing a consent banner

MamoDex sets exactly one cookie, and only after you log in. It keeps you signed in and does nothing else. Cookies that are strictly necessary to deliver a service you asked for do not require consent, so there is no banner to click through. We would rather list everything here than interrupt you with a dialog that implies we are tracking you when we are not.

Browsing MamoDex without an account sets no cookies at all.

The one cookie

carddex_session
Purpose: Keeps you logged in.
Contents: A random token. It holds no personal data and cannot be read to learn anything about you.
Lifetime: 30 days, or until you log out.
Flags: httpOnly, so page scripts cannot read it. Secure, so it is sent only over HTTPS. SameSite lax.
Category: Strictly necessary.
Third party: None. It is set by MamoDex and sent only to MamoDex.

Browser storage

Some preferences are kept in your browser rather than in a cookie. These never leave your device and are never sent to our servers. Clearing your browser data removes them.

  • mamodex.binder.view and mamodex.binder.pockets: your binder layout choice.
  • mamodex-bug-floater-seen: remembers that you have already seen the feedback button, so it stops reappearing.
  • mamodex:navctx: remembers where you came from so the back button behaves sensibly. Cleared when you close the tab.

What we do not use

  • No advertising or retargeting cookies.
  • No analytics: no Google Analytics, no Vercel Analytics, no Plausible, nothing.
  • No tracking pixels, session recording, heatmaps, or fingerprinting.
  • No social media embeds or third-party scripts that could set cookies of their own.
  • We do not log your IP address or user agent.

The mobile apps

The MamoDex iOS and Android apps store the same session token on your device, using the operating system's secure storage. Logging out removes it. The apps contain no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.

Turning it off

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking carddex_session will not break browsing or search, but it will make logging in impossible, since the cookie is how the site remembers who you are between page loads.
